UBC³D

The University of British Columbia Centre for Catalyst Development

Catalysis is a cornerstone for Green Chemistry Innovation, as catalysts reduce energy consumption, reduce chemical waste generation and increase synthetic efficiency during manufacturing. Catalytic synthesis has implications for a broad range of industrial sectors including polymers/plastics/paints/coatings/lubricants, advanced materials (electronic materials, optical materials, sensing materials, energy storage and/or conversion materials), fine chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and biotech sectors. Principle investigators affiliated with the centre possess a breadth of expertise available for consultation and collaboration.

The CFI UBC ³D funded facility containing state-of-the-art equipment for synthesis using catalysis and cutting-edge purification and characterization instruments is a new multi-user laboratory. This new centre will facilitate the development of new research partnerships by providing a point of contact for members to indentify synergistic collaborative opportunities. We aim to enhance the local impact of this research strength in catalysis, which is critical to the development of new sustainable technologies of commercial relevance.
